Emilia-Romagna Food Festival at Italia,The Park Bangalore

Eat, Pray and Love at Italia,The Park, Bengaluru. Celebrate the way the Italians do and satiate your taste buds with the taste of authentic Emilia- Romagna food in the ongoing Emilia-Romagna Food Festival from 1st of September to 6th October.


The Specially curated menu by the in house Executive Chef Baseer Ahmed, showcases the ‘Northen Italian food’ from the Emilia Romagna region ( Heart of Italian Cooking) of Italy. The region is world famous for it’s bold yet simple and tasteful refined cuisine. Ranging from different types of homemade fresh Pasta, Stuffed Pasta, best balsamic vinegar,parmesan cheese to excellent range of wine’s. The Bolognese sauce ( Bologna – Capital of the Region) features as the most used sauce to be used in their pasta preparation. Each of the dish which featured in the Emilia – Romagna Fest transported one to this Gastronomical Paradise of Italy.


I was invited for a special preview of the food fest. For this food fest they offer a six course ‘ a la carte’ menu. We started our Italian sojourn  with Sparkling Mini Zonin Prosecco ( Fruity and aromatic on the nose with a delicate almond note)


and a mocktail called as ‘ Fantastic Pop’ (Mango,Litchi,Cranberry topped with lemonade)

Choose from the array of Insalata/Antipasti/first course from Insalata di finocchi al balsamico (Shaved fennel salad in balsamic vinaigrette) to

Asparagi con formaggio Parmigiano (blanched Asparagus with gratinated parmesan and balasamic reduction with simple yet fantastic taste)


Fritto come una Volta (Freshly pan fried sea food,zucchini and cherry tomatoes in lemon dressing) to Salumi e piatto di formaggi (Cured meat and cheese platter)

For Minestra (thick Soup of Italian region), they have Crema di zucca gialla con porchino (Creamy yellow pumpkin soup with porcini – which was flavoured with black pepper,olive oil and salt. It was filling and heartwarming and though I hated pumpkin but loved this one)


The Non- vegetarian’s have the option to choose from Brodetto alla romagnola (Seasonal catch seafood broth with tomato and vinegar) and Zuppa imperiale (Imperial pasta soup in rich chicken broth)

For Risotto e paste fatte in casa , they have Cappellacci con funghi e panna (Pumpkin ravioli with mushroom and cream was again an outstanding dish where the classic ravioli was filled with pumpkin puree and served with the perfectly done mushroom and cream . One can’t stop gushing about this Pure Pumpkin and Mushroom Heaven)


Gnocchi di patate con salsa di zucchini (Potato gnocchi with courgette sauce) 

and Riso con verdure e parmigiano (Risotto – baked herberio rice with green vegetables like broccoli,zuchini topped with raw cherry tomato and flavored with parmesan cheese flakes was a delightful dish )


And for the non vegetarian’s they have Tagliatelle alle canocchie(Tagliatelle pasta with shrimps,garlic,cherry tomatoes and olive oil) ,Spaghetti con ragu (Spaghetti with bolognaise sauce) and Risotto con pepperoni e rucolla (Risotto with pepperoni and rocket leaves)

From Pesci/Carni ( Fish and Meat Preparation) one can choose from

Anguilla alla livornese (Eel with olives.chill and capers),Salmone al forno con finocchio e zucchine (Oven roasted salmon fillet with fennel and zucchini), Branzina al forna con patate, pomodorini e olive (Baked seabass with potatoes, cherry tomatoes and olives), Pollo satato al balsamico con basilico (Chicken scaloppine in balsamic and basil sauce), Pollo alla cacciatora (Roasted chicken with tomato gravy), Stinco di agnello brasato (Braised lamb shank served with soft creamy polenta), Tagliata alle erbe (Slow cooked tender slices of beef with porcini mushroom sauce) and Filletto di manzo all’aceto balsamico (Beef fillet with balsamic vinegar)

From the Pizza Menu one can choose

Pizza quattro stagioni (Tomato sauce,fresh mozzarella cheese,fresh mushrooms. bell peppers,olives and artichokes – The freshly prepared thin crust based crispy gourmet margarita pizza is the best example of real flavors of Italy resembles four seasons of Italy. Sundried Tomato for winter, Artichoke for spring, Bell pepper for summer and Mushroom for Autumn )


Pizza neptune (Tomato sauce,mozzarella cheese, olives, capers and oregano)

Pizza caesar (Tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, sliced chicken breast topped with rocca salad & caesar dressing) and Proscuitto e fichi pizza (Proscuitto and fig pizza)

For Dolce ( Italian Dessert)

Tiramisu ( fluffy and light Mascarpone cheese mousse in a mixture of coffee & Nescafe syrup) is of melt in mouth texture and give an after bite of chocolate


 Fragolini al balsamico (Cinnamon, balsamic vinegar flavored Strawberry and mascarpone cheese Crostini has an irresistible tangy taste )


Zuppa inglese (Layers of egg based custard and sweet ladyfinger biscuits soaked in liqueur is a no bake dessert was rich and delicious)



Their impeccable service makes one happy after the end of a scrumptious meal . At the same time their service staff guide you in choosing and ordering the perfect dish according to your choice. Approximate meal for two would be INR 3000/- (without drinks)
