Salt Indian Restaurant – Bar & Grill is the place where modernness & classiness fused together resulting in feel at home comfort.
Chef Balaji Balachander is the man behind this progressive Indian Cuisine based Indian Restaurant. He used to work as an executive Chef at famed Benaras in London. His unique touch with traditional Indian Recipes results into some exceptional dishes suiting everyone’s palate. His trained Chefs are expert in recreating his signature dishes cooked in traditional Indian Cooking method using the quality Indian spices & Ingredients.
They have two branches in Bengaluru. One in Kormangala & another in VR Bengaluru. I went to their VR Bengaluru outlet at the time of their ongoing Kabab & Biriyani Festival.
The place has deemed lighting and offers two seating choices. One comfortable inside sofa seating & another regular chairs and bench seating at balcony area which also serves as smoking zone where a diner have the option of smoking while dining there. As the day was Friday, they were having live band performance by the band called ” It’s All Sorted’.
It was good to see people are still crazy about Bollywood Songs & what better than the Fingerlicking North Indian Food to be paired with the soulful music.
From the Festive menu one had the option of choosing the dishes apart from their regular menu. The Kebab & Biryani Fest showcased Royal Awadhi & Mughlai Biriyani which are subtle spiced Biriyani prepared with best quality Basmati Rice, dry fruits & nut paste with choicest Mutton/ Chicken/ Vegetable version.
The Full course menu had Soups, Starters, Maincourse & Dessert. We prefered to start our dinner with veg and non-veg starters. ( Few Dishes from the Festive Menu & few from their regular menu)
Paneer Pasinda Kebab (Veg version of the mutton pasinda kabab)
Bharwan Mushroom (Cumin & Garlic tempered spinach stuffed inside mushrooms & char grilled served with mint chutney
Mushroom Varuval ( Button Mushrooms coated with corn flour & crisp fried then tossed with South Indian Spices)
Subji Kur-Kure (Deep fried parcels of roomali stuffed with cumin spiced vegetables, cashew nuts & Raisins served with mint & tamarind chutney)
Safron Murg Malai Tikka
Tandoori Chetinad Prawn
The spiciness of the food were subdued by the accompanying Special Mocktail ( Orange & Litchi), Desi Paan Cooler, Summer Cooler & Citrus Mint Cooler.
From their Main Menu we tried –
Veg Biryani, Paneer Kurchan, Dal Makhani & Mushroom Curry with Mixed Olive Naan & Garlic Naan.
For Dessert we tried Gulab Jamun Bruilee, Elaneer Payasam & Warm Apple Tart ( Cinnamon spiced Apple tart served with apricot glaze & Vanilla icecream)
Overall the whole spread was class apart except the desserts which they need to work upon as the desserts lack luster in front of the amazing starters & Main Course. The food maintains their own unique identity & one can’t find it’s close resemblance anywhere in Bengaluru. Indians as well as the tourists from other country can experience culinary bliss after relishing the curries here.
Every month they come up with different food festivals to revive the age old culinary tradition. This month’s theme is Coastal Cuisine.
This place continues to attract familes, single diners and corporate crowd with their unique dishes & interesting offers on weekdays within one year of it’s starting.
Prior Reservation is recommended here as the place used to be packed during weekdays also.
