Sicilian Food Festival – Special Curated impeccable Delicacies from the Sicilian region
Arancini Di fro maggio ( Cheese Stuffed Rice balls coated with bread crumbs and deep fried), Insalata Pantesa ( potatoes, onions and cherry tomato salad in vinegar, lemon, oregano and extra virgin olive oil dressing), Fennel flavored lentil soup ,Tomato based fish Soup, Pizzolu along with some scrumptious desserts.
From 7 th October to 31st October at Italia, The Park Bengaluru is celebrating their specialty monthly Food Festival with Sicilian Food Festival and this festival is specially curated by the head executive chef Baseer Ahmed (Continental and Italian Italia – The Park) . I got an invite for the exclusive preview of the Food Fest. Sicilian is the biggest island of Mediterranean sea. This region is not into hardcore Italian food and majorly influenced by Greek,Spanish,French and Arabic Cuisine. This region is popular for it’s fresh catch of fish namely Basa,Squid,Prawn, Calamari and Octopus.
For the Starter (Insalata/Antipasti) we opted for –
Insalata pantesca – Potatoes, onions, and cherry tomatoes salad in a tangy dressing of vinegar, lemon, oregano and extra virgin olive oil
Arancini di fromaggio – Cheese Stuffed rice balls coated with breadcrumbs and then deep fried served with a tangy tomato in-house sauce
Soup ( Minestra)
Zuppa di lenticchie Siciliana – Hot and comforting Fennel flavored lentil (Toor dal ) soup , garnished with drops of olive oil and served with freshly baked garlic breads
Zuppa di pesce siciliano -Tomato based fish soup with prawns, octopus, and calamari for the sea food lover’s
Risotto e Pasta Fatte in Casa
Penne alla norma – Penne pasta with eggplant and tomato sauce and topped with pecorino cheese. Simple yet robust flavours with al dante pasta
Risotto con broccoli ragu – Risotto with broccoli ragu and topped with cheery tomatoes and garnished with balsamic vinegar. Subtle flavours
Spaghetti marinara – Spaghetti with spicy tomato sauce and seafood
You can also opt for Verdure – Cannazzo – Garlic flavoured baked Mediterranean vegetables, Pepperoni in agrodolce in crosta (sweet and sour peppers on a crusty pastry base, Parmigiana di melanzana (Fried aubergine in tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese)
Tonno in agrodolce con piselli e mentuccia – Tuna with sweet and sour onions, green peas and mint sprig
Agneddu a’missinisa – Oven roasted lamb chops in red wine, onion, carrot, capers and rosemary sauce served with classic mashed potatoes
Involtini siciliani di manzo – Beef rolls stuffed with asparagus and mozzarella cheese in tomatoes, raisins and pine nut sauce served with mildly sauted exotic veggies
Scaccia – Folded rectangular Pizza stuffed with scamorza cheese , fresh mozzarella cheese and arichoke
Pizzolu – Double layered pizza with roasted chicken,pesto,tomato and mozzarella cheese in bottom layer and parmesan,oregano and olive oil on top layer.
Cannoli siciliani – little tube shaped fried pastry dough filled with sweet, creamy and orange flavour ricotta cheese filling and dipped with chocolate syrup
This is indeed the showstopper dessert and takes food styling to another level
Pignolata – Soft fried pastry balls covered in chocolate and lemon flavored syrup garnished with finely chopped pistachios
Cassata Sicilliana – Sponge cake soaked in liqueur layered with ricotta and almond mixture served with raspberry and mango sauce
Each of the desserts out shined each other and tasted wonderful and we were impressed with the presentation.
We enjoyed the food with few special drinks which is available in their drink menu .

Chef Baseer Ahmed had done an excellent work creating the whole menu for this Sicilian Food fest and successful execution for the same. We can’t stop admiring the amount of hard work and creativity which goes into this whole Food Fest.
Their impeccable service makes one happy after the end of a scrumptious meal . At the same time their service staff guide you in choosing and ordering the perfect dish according to your choice. Approximate meal for two would be INR 3000/- (without drinks)
